I recently had the pleasure of visiting "Baevu - The Village" a Resort in Allimaranahalli Village, Kanakpura Taluk. Nestled adjacent to the Bantamari state forest, this charming village, also known as Baevu Halli, is set on a spacious 30-acre property. The highlight of the place is its lush landscape adorned with a variety of plants, particularly the Baevu (Neem) trees from which the Resort draws its name. The journey to the resort involves navigating a small mud road for a kilometer or two from the main village road, leading to a reception area where a warm welcome awaits, complete with a refreshing welcome drink.

The accommodations at the Resort are designed in the distinctive style of a Thottimane, offering a unique and inviting atmosphere. These spaces transcend the traditional concept of rooms, serving as a home away from home, exuding beauty and warmth. What sets this resort apart is its unwavering commitment to sustainable practices. The entire power supply is harnessed from rooftop solar panels, providing guests with an eco-friendly and off-the-grid experience. Furthermore, water heating is ingeniously powered by solar energy and complemented by responsibly sourced forest wood, exemplifying the resort's dedication to environmental consciousness.

The resort features a diverse range of accommodations, including 8 standard cottages, 2 superior cottages, 5 couple cottages, 1 private cottage, two 3-bed dorms, and two 5-bed dorms. Each of these options adds to the charm and variety of experiences awaiting guests.

Furthermore, the resort actively recycles wastewater, utilizing it for watering the extensive array of plants on the property. This holistic approach to sustainability adds an extra layer of appreciation for the natural beauty surrounding the village.

The property offers a range of activities, including a walking track, a hillside for trekking enthusiasts, and a muddy basketball court alongside a swimming pool. An amphitheater adds to the entertainment options.

The dining experience is carefully curated, with separate areas for vegetarian and non-vegetarian preferences. The food, described as "out of the world," adds a delightful touch to the overall stay.

Accommodations are deliberately designed to limit phone signals, fostering a true retreat experience. For those looking for a chill evening with a bonfire and drinks, it's advisable to bring your own, as the resort doesn't provide alcohol. The nearest wine store is conveniently located 5 kilometers away in Kanakpura.

During my retreat to the Resort, I had the pleasure of being accompanied by the seasoned gentlemen I affectionately call the "wise elders." Our time at the resort was brimming with enjoyable activities, including a memorable tractor ride around the property. Despite the resort's emphasis on vegetarian options for lunch, the culinary offerings were diverse and satisfying. Moreover, for those with a taste for non-vegetarian fare, a dedicated dining area provided a delectable array of choices, ensuring everyone's culinary preferences were met.

Exploring the surroundings, we embarked on a hill trek and were delighted to spot fresh deer tracks, adding a touch of wildlife to our experience. The lack of phone signals near the cottages enhanced the sense of tranquility.

All in all, my visit to "Baevu - The Village" left a lasting impression, and I am already looking forward to returning to this serene retreat that not only provides a beautiful escape but also champions sustainable living through its eco-friendly practices.

In conclusion, the resort offers not just a getaway but a sustainable and luxurious escape into nature—an experience that not only rejuvenates the soul but also champions eco-friendly practices for a brighter future.
